US researchers improved phosphor for 300lm / w LED target light efficiency

UCSB Solid State Lighting and Energy Center (SSLEC) researchers announced a breakthrough research that can improve the phosphor , making COB LED flood light and other LED lighting brighter and more efficient. The researchers said that their goal is to reach 90% optical efficiency , or 300 lumens / watt.

The staff jointly conducting this groundbreaking research includes Professor Ram Seshadri of the Department of Materials and Chemistry and Biochemistry Santa Barbara, University of California , materials science professor Steven DenBaars and postdoctoral research associate Jakoah Brgoch. They co-authored the research published in “Physical Chemistry ” magazine.

Seshadri said the latest developments in solid-state lighting such as the COB LED flood light is GaN LED, this technology is mainly due to the professor Shuji Nakamura of materials science Santa Barbara, University of California, he invented the first high-brightness blue LED.
