OLED smart glasses open New Vision for visually impaired

According to reports, an OLED smart glasses named Assisted Vision which has been developed by the Oxford University research team may help users with severe visual impairments to identify the object . how to wear the this pair of smart glasses is no different from that of the ordinary glasses, it is not using glass or resin lenses, but the OLED display and mini video cameras which can provide users with images of objects within the field of view .

According to incomplete statistics , 75% of blind people still retain some limited visual function, they can perceive light and movement. This smart glasses Assisted Vision can use the camera and software to detect objects and display objects on the OLED lenses of the glasses .

How the Assisted Vision works as follows : two miniature camera located on both sides of glasses will be like a human eye , capturing two different images. What’re the next steps of packaging the LED

1 , filling plastic packaging

Lamp-LED uses potting form to package. What the Potting process is injrcting the LED liquid epoxy into mold cavity , and then insert the LED holder welded, then place in an oven to cure the epoxy , the LED from the mold cavity formed is in the extrusion .

2, molded package

Put the LED bracket welded into the mold, use the hydraulic clamping to clamp the mold and extract the vacuum, put the solid epoxy into the dispensing channel inlet to heat and use the hydraulic plunger to press into the mold runner , the epoxy run along the plastic molding tract into the groove and each LED curing .

3 , curing and post-curing

Curing is encapsulated epoxy curing,the epoxy curing conditions is generally 135 ℃, 1 hr. Molded package is generally 150 ℃, 4 minutes.

4 , post-curing

After curing is allowing the epoxy to be cured sufficiently, at the same time for thermal aging of the LED . After curing is very important to improve the adhesive strength. of the stand (PCB)and  the epoxy. General conditions is 120 ℃, 4 hours.

5, cut tendons and dicing

As the LED are linked ( not individual ), Lamp LED package LED stent adopts the cut tendons to cut off the connection tendons. SMD-LED is on a PCB board , which needs the separation Dicing to complete .

6 , the test

Test LED photoelectric parameters , inspection dimensions, while sorting the LED products according to customer requirements.

7 , packing

Counting the finished packaging, blue / white / green super bright LED requires anti-static packaging.

What are the first five steps of packaging LED

LED packaging technology mainly turn to high luminous efficiency, high reliability, high heat capacity and thin, the main highlight is the ceramic substrate package, flip technology , the phosphor coating technology , wire bonding technology . LED packaging steps can be divided into twelve steps .

1 , dispensing

Pointing the LED bracket silver plastic or rubber insulation on the corresponding position . ( For GaAs, SiC conductive substrate , a back electrode red, yellow , green chips, using silver paste; for an insulating substrate of sapphire blue , green LED chips, using an insulating adhesive to fix the chip. )

2, automatic pallet

Automatic loading rack is actually a combination of glue stick ( dispensing ) and mounting the chip, the first point in the LED bracket silver plastic ( plastic insulation ) , and then use a vacuum suction nozzle from the LED chip mobile location, and then placed in the corresponding bracket position.

3 , the sintering

Silver plastic sintering temperature is controlled at 150 ℃, sintering time is 2 hours ,which can be adjusted to 170 ℃, 1 hr according to the actual situation.

Plastic insulation generally 150 ℃, 1 hr.

Silver plastic sintering oven must be opened to replace the sintered products in separated 2 hours ( or 1 hour )according to process requirements, intermediate can not be opened . No further purpose is for other sintering oven to prevent contamination.

4 , pressure welding

The purpose of bonding is to lead the electrode to the LED chip to finish lead connections inside and outside the product .

There are the gold ball bonding welding and aluminum wire bonding for the process of LED. Bonding is the key process in the LED packaging technology , the main process is the need to monitor the bonding gold ( aluminum ) wire arch shape , spot shape , tension.

There are various issues involved in-depth study for the bonding process , such as gold ( aluminum ) wire material , ultrasonic power , pressure welding pressure , chopper ( steel mouth ) selection, chopper ( steel mouth ) trajectory and so on.

5 , dispensing package

LED package mainly are little glue , potting , molding. The difficulty is basically bubble process control , multi- material shortage , black spots. Designed is mainly for selecting the material, combined with a good selection of epoxy and bracket. ( General LED can not through leak test ) TOP-LED and Side-LED is suitable for dispensing package as shown. Manual dispensing package demand highly for operating level ( especially white LED), the main difficulty is controlling the dispensing volume, because the epoxy will be thick during use .what the problems caused by dispensing the white LED phosphor is the light color precipitate.
